And sometimes we are a factory

Most of the time I do a posting of an interesting shade/shape/style that we are working on in the Studio, but real life is not about the one-off shades that we style or restore.  No - behind the Studio walls, we are actually a little factory, producing lots of little shades, big shades, and lots of middle size shades for hotels, lodges, guest houses and B & B's.  Where-with just a little peep of 30 shades we did for a local hotel....

Child under a Lampshade

This lampshade I recovered for the 101 Options Antique Shop, in Main Road, Strand.  The stand is exceptional and talks to me! The shade was damaged and dirty.  After a few layers of paint, brand new satin & beautiful woven trim in shades of cream, this lampshade is as good as new.

The child under the lampshade will enjoy her reading again! Switch on the light!

Trading

Sunday was the most beautiful day in Cape Town.  Under the trees, along the river, we all gathered to sell/display our goods and eat and drink and just enjoy the beauty of nature.  Herewith a view of my stall under the trees.  Thank you all my friends and regular clients who came to say hello.  It was a great day!

Next to me was Megan from Megan B Handbags. She sells exclusive leather handbags and accessories which they manufacture in their factory in Somerset West.  All her handbags are made of top quality leather.  She and Lionel has been in the leather business for many years. It was so exciting to see her altering a handbag strap on the market - right there and then! You can place a special order and she will give it her personally attention.

On the other side of me was Tracy who sells wooden engraved rings and bangles – boy was she busy!  I think she had the most sales for the day!
Ilse White sells picnic and beach blankets with a damp proof underneath and has a large choice of fabric prints.  These blankets are machine washable.  She even had one that match one of my shades!

Laurette of Laurette’s Photography popped around for pictures and is presently doing articles on Ladies in Business over 50.  Click on her blog to see what she is up to next.
Well, it Monday morning, and back to business…….

Hathersage Market

Today is a very exciting day in the studio.  I will display some of my work at the Hathersage Local Market in Somerset West on Sunday.  So, today will be a hectic one....   Keep an eye on my blog as I will place pics of some of the shades that will be on sale, on my blog today and tomorrow.  For more info on this market see their facebook page Hathersage Local Market.  Book Sunday for a day out and join us under the trees along the Lourensriver......
