Do you remember the old lampshade which came in for a facelift? Well, well it is soon becoming a new lampshade again. We are nearly there....

Standing lamp

If you are younger than 40, you most probably  not remember this shape lampshade. We made this up for a very happy customer. It is such a perfect shape for a barley twist lampbase.

A thousand men

I visited a 22 storey building. Every floor is filled with office space and staff. Hundreds of people come and go through the front door. It felt like peak hour at a train station, except that everybody were friendly and made time to greet and chat.

I wondered if anyone ever noticed the lighting, in the Cafeteria at the entrance? I did...

Proper French design boo boo

Last week we recovered similar lampshades on this photo below.  I did not know that these lampshades are still so popular!  Well, well, to tell you a little secret - we had a boo-boo. When we stripped it, the top and bottom was 2 separate pieces.  When we recovered it, we forgot about the "crown" at the top.  Luckily the owner told us a piece was missing and we could trace the "crown" the rightful lampshade!  Small mistakes happen.  Luckily we could sort it out and deliver a stunning new lampshade (all in one piece), to a very happy client!

These lampshades remind me of kings and queens.......

Burlap lampshade

We now stock lovely burlap shades. The only place to find it in South Africa... Unless you want to go to France... We manufacture them in 3 sizes.

Growing growing growing

It's been a while since I have been here, but it is all good news!  The months of April and May were very exciting times for us.  Our beautiful fashion lampshade frames went on-line at 5rooms.com   There are 8 different shapes and all available in 9 colours and it gets delivered to your door!

We also exhibited at Decorex Cape Town and it was wonderful to introduce our products to new clients and touch base with our regular clients!

And then the best news - we have just opened a new Retail outlet for our lovely lampshades.  Come and visit our Retail Shop at the Somerset West Decor Centre, near Somerset West Mall where you can view interesting lampshades, discuss your requirements or just bring an old lampshade to be recovered.

Large pleated lampshade

This week was an extra special week. Not only did we do a very large pleated shade, but all the shades we made were white, black or a black white combination. What a week.

This lampshade is knife pleated and a pendant of 80 cm. Wow a biggie!

The stripe chandelier shades are always to die for!

And vertical stripe lampshades leave an excellent event impression... Come back for more...

Lovely old one's

These beautiful little lampshades came in for recovering.  We have to show you how beautiful the finishing of the lampshades are, before we demolish the paper.  Tiny golden threads,  tiny gold band on the outside and it is hold together with tiny cross stitches.  So so pretty, we can't hardly torn it apart to refurbish it.  It must be at least 50 to 60 years old.....

Swivel head lampshade

We recovered these lampshades. The main reason why the client kept the shades,  is because of the swivel head. You can turn the shade up to allow more light for reading. These lampshade fittings are rare, so if you still have old one's, have it recovered as the factory which made it, has closed down looooong ago

Antique lampshade

A lamp base came in for repair as it was damaged when the owner moved home.  She brought the lampshade with the base.  I could not resist taking a few pictures of the lampshade, as we dont see this style lampshade, any more.  Even more so... -  this one is kept in an excellent condition.

It reminds me of this lampshade, which we repaired and  then

changed the fitting so that it can be hanged.

Lining a lampshade

A lining inside a lampshade dims the light and just gives a better presentation.  Here we are lining a lampshade after we designed and made the frame, then twist pleated it and the last step - the lining and trim.
